Matcha Sundaze: What Happens When Wellness Feels Like a Sunday

Matcha Sundaze was the opposite.

Rematea hosted a matcha pop-up at La Sala Boston. The idea was simple: unwind, drink, and vibe. No pitch. No program. Just a Sunday afternoon built around good drinks, good music, and the kind of unhurried conversation that doesn't happen when you're rushing between obligations.

What matcha means in this context

Matcha is not just a trend. It is a centuries-old Japanese ritual rooted in the practice of presence. The preparation of matcha, the way it is whisked and poured and held, is designed to slow you down. It is a ceremony before it is a beverage.

We brought that intention to Roxbury. Guests could try specially crafted matcha drinks designed for both an energy boost and overall wellbeing. The pop-up set the scene for a Sunday stroll, a moment outside the pace of the week, a reason to sit down and stay a while.

Why Roxbury matters

La Sala Boston is rooted in community. Roxbury is one of Boston's most culturally rich neighborhoods. Bringing a wellness pop-up into that space, centering Black and brown communities in a conversation about rest and wellbeing, was a deliberate act. Wellness belongs here. It always has.

What the room felt like

Welcoming. Easy. Full of positive energy. People connected over their drinks, talked about what they were working on, what they needed more of, what felt good. Matcha was the vehicle. Community was the destination.

Matcha Sundaze was proof that wellness does not have to be intimidating, expensive, or clinical. It can happen on a Sunday afternoon in Roxbury, over a good drink, with people who just needed a reason to stop.
